The John Lehman for Senate campaign welcomes you and asks for your support.

This past year Governor Walker and his Republican allies have divided Wisconsin as never before. The attack on our democracy is unprecedented. He plays from the old Koch brother's play book: centralizing power in the hands of the governor, rewarding the rich while cutting essentials, union busting, attacking public education and the environment, radical redistricting, restricting access to the polls, obfuscation and outright untruths day after day.

They've promised jobs again and again but have produced very few.

We need new leadership in Racine County, and we cannot wait. We need leaders who will talk with their constituents, not at them. We cannot wait for a government that holds it’s citizens accountable, while they go unchecked. We need real solutions, that will affect real people; not the special interests groups in Madison. We need a government that is open and modern, not draconian that will leave it’s most needy citizens in the dark.

One of Walker's strongest allies in this polarizing of Wisconsin has been Racine's Van Wanggaard. Wanggaard refused to discuss and debate his positions during the 2010 campaign. Today, he continues to avoid listening sessions while hiding behind his Madison handlers. His policies are extreme. We see now that he has never been honest with Racine citizens.

24,000 recall petition signers know all this. We need new leadership in our senate district, and that means Wanggaard has to go.

Trust me, I am not running against Sen. Wanggaard for personal or political gain. I am running because we need civility and compromise in our government. We cannot continue along this path of digging in our heels to protect partisan extreme agendas, because as we have seen throughout this past year, will not solve our state’s problems, create jobs, or help our children enter a 21st. Century economy, or help working class families that have been hit hard by the economic downturn.

If we want to create and bring jobs to Wisconsin that provide economic security to working class families then we need to invest in our technical colleges and job training to make sure we have the skilled workers to fill these jobs.

So I am leaving my happy, one-year retirement to try to restore some civility to the State Senate. Most Racine citizens know of my long service in the schools and as a representative at City Hall and in the legislature. I hope that you agree with me that we will be better represented with Van Wanggaard out of there.

With your help we will succeed.

Sincerely,
